We have learned not to take food seriously: we eat as much as we want of what we want when we want it, and we seldom think about the health and environmental consequences of our choices. But the fact is that every choice we make has an impact on our health and on the environment. In The Vegetarian Imperative, Anand M. Saxena, a scientist and a vegetarian for most of his life, explains why we need to make better choices: for better health, to eliminate world hunger, and, ultimately, to save the planet.

A Summer of Thirds

1/3

I can’t believe I’m going to Madagascar in twenty days! And I hadn’t realized it, but I’m crossing off a thing or two on my bucket list as well

It’s going to be an amazing experience, but it hasn’t fully sunken in yet. A full month! With a group of people I’ve never met, studying Anthropology (which I’ve never learned). Daunting, I know.

Opportunities like this don’t come by often- I feel so blessed to be able to go. I hope I can make the absolute most out of it.

  • Explore a rainforest

2/3

Youth Camp 2012! Last year was honestly life changing, I’m looking forward to reliving that, can’t wait to learn the Gita.

  • Find myself

3/3

Nonprofit Management Course- how cool! I’d be certified to manage specific nonprofit organizations! Hopefully it’ll give me an edge in internships for the future as well.

  • Give back to others
